Jog Falls - Shimoga
Drive to Shimoga from Bangalore was cool. Not much of traffic both the ways. We started around 5:30 am in the morning and a drive with lots of stops in between.
We reached Shimoga around 12:30pm. We checked-in to a Hotel called Surya Comforts. This hotel has clean rooms, excellent service and best part it is very affordable. This hotel has a great restaurant too.
After lunch, we drove towards Tyarekoppa Lion Safari, a great place to enjoy the unaltered nature and wildlife. The safari was very nice, you get to see lions, tigers and black buck. My wife loved the safari so much that we had to go for it one more time. We held a deer antler this time. After the safari, we lazed around for a while and drove back to hotel.
Day 2 was a very long day. We drove to Jog falls, the highest waterfall in Karnataka. It is about 100 kms far from Shimoga. The drive is fantastic and picturesque. We did take a lot of pictures!
We reached jog falls and weather was excellent for us to get into water. River Sharavati splits into 4 steams named Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani. There are 1400+ steps to reach the base of the waterfall. Climbing down was fun and not strenuous.
There are quite a lot small sheds for quick bites and rest. We reached the base and plunged into water. We went as close as possible to the falls, the pressure was quite high. We swam around for 3-4 hours.
Now was the toughest part, we had to climb 1400+ steps. We took almost an hour, with lotz of breakz. The cucumber, raw mango slices tasted yummier than ever. There were our source of energy :-). We finally reached the top and were totally exhausted. There are no hotels nearby. We had to drive a few miles to reach decent hotel. We had late lunch and drove back to Shimoga.
Next morning after breakfast we started to drive back home to Bangalore.
